Deloitte in cooperation with the European Commission invite executives from Lithuania to join the Executive Training Programme (ETP)
The Executive Training Programme (ETP) helps Lithuanian companies to enter or expand their activities in the Japanese and Korean markets, providing support to the development of their business plan, as well as intensive business and language training and a scholarship for their executives to this end. 60 selected European managers will have the opportunity to develop their companies’ business plan for Japan or Korea as of November 2012. The deadline for applications to this cycle is 31 May 2012. Candidates can apply online at http://www.euetp.eu.
Japan and Korea, two of the largest economies of the world and major EU trading partners, offer a wealth of export opportunities for European businesses. The ETP has been instrumental over the last 30 years in unlocking the potential of these distinctive and complex East Asian markets for EU companies. Indeed, to date the ETP has helped more than 1000 European managers to understand business practices in Japan and Korea and overcome language and cultural barriers in doing business in these countries. The ETP has contributed to improved trade relations between the EU and Japan and Korea. Convinced by its success, the European Commission continues to support the ETP to strengthen the presence of EU companies in Japan and Korea.
What is the ETP?
The ETP is a European Commission funded programme that provides European executives from EU companies with a year of support to the development of their companies’ business plan for Japan or Korea, as well as business, language and cultural training necessary for success in the Japanese and Korean markets. Its main objective is that by the end of the programme the ETP participants develop a credible business plan for their companies to establish or expand their business in the East Asian markets. The training is divided into 3 stages:
- A 3-week introductory training on the Japanese or Korean history, culture, economy and business in London;
- A 30-week intensive business and language course in Tokyo or Seoul;
- A 12-week internship in a Japanese or Korea company.
The ETP training courses are provided by three internationally recognized universities:
- School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London;
- Waseda University (Tokyo);
- Yonsei University (Seoul).
The ETP is designed for participants to acquire business expertise, as well as management and language skills that are vital for doing business in Japan or Korea. A combination of different teaching methods, site visits, guest speakers and networking events, as well as internships, enable participants to apply knowledge in practice and immediately transfer it to their companies.
A survey of ETP participants showed that more than 65% of ETP alumni become top executives within their companies, and that the participant companies’ related turnover with Japan or Korea increases two fold within ten years of completing the ETP.
Who can participate?
ETP is open for EU nationals working for European companies with an annual turnover above 1 Mio € and more than 5 employees and who are interested in launching or expanding their activities in Japan or Korea.
What is the financial support?
The European Commission supports participants on the ETP programme by:
- Funding the entire ETP training course;
- Providing a scholarship for each ETP participant of 26,400€ a year for Japan and 24,000€ a year for Korea.
Sponsoring companies are also encouraged to contribute to participant’s living expenses.
How to apply?
