Introduction by Mr. Darius Degutis, Ambassador-at-large at the External Economic Relations Department of the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry.

Moderation by Mr. Johann Spitzer, Ambassador of the Republic of Austria.

Mr. Dainius Kreivys, Vice-Chairman of the Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democratic Party, was Lithuania’s Minister for Economic Affairs from 2008 to 2011. He has built his career on – among others – a vast experience in private business.

In his position as the current opposition’s shadow minister for energy he works to further strengthen Lithuania’s energy independence. He sees renewable energy sources as a main factor for a sustainable economy.

After finishing his first university degree in radio engineering in 1995, he held managerial positions in several private companies where he gained experience in leadership and business administration. In 2008 Mr. Kreivys received an Executive MBA from the Baltic Management Institute with his thesis about the stability of national currencies in the context of the currency crisis (in the case of Lithuania). He has authored papers on macroeconomics, geopolitics and energy supply and has participated in many international conferences, including the 3rd Africa–European Union Summit.
