Minister of Social Security and Labour Mr. Linas Kukuraitis

Kukuraitis.jpgFormerly Lecturer of Social Work at Vilnius University, Linas Kukuraitis has been appointed as the Minister of Social Security and Labour of the Republic of Lithuania in December 2016.

Member of the Board of Lithuanian Social Work under the Ministry of Social Security and Labour of the Republic of Lithuania (2 terms of office), member of the Board of Lithuanian Caritas, member of the Board of caritas-social issues of the Archdiocese of Vilnius, establisher of public entity the Blessed J. Matulaitis Social Center.

Linas Kukuraitis was actively engaged in the establishment of Lithuanian youth teaching methodologies and programmes, lead trainings in the field of youth social pedagogical activity, such as social work with young people, promotion of voluntary work, was leader of projects of fight against poverty, promotion of social innovations, integration of people after detention, represented Lithuania in the EU organisations in the context of analysis of social situation.

Prof. Jonas Ruškus has worked as Chairman of Expert Council at the Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education. He is member of the Lithuanian Education Council and an expert in various projects, as well as editor-in-chief of journal Socialinis darbas. Patirtis ir metodai and member of editorial boards of Lithuanian and foreign scientific journals.

Research by Prof. Jonas Ruškus is chiefly focused on social work and education. Some of the most important objects of Ruškus’ research are empowerment and social participation of vulnerable social groups (i.e. the disabled, former convicts, victims of human trafficking, etc.).
He has held lectures in universities in France, Portugal, Belgium, Sweden and the USA. He has authored 3 scientific monographs, and is also the author and co-author of over 60 articles in Lithuanian and foreign journals, as well as the author of numerous publicistic polemic articles.
