Media are regularly publishing appealing headlines about a possible invasion or attack of the Baltic States by Russia.
Are they clairvoyant or alarmist ?

Colonel Jakob Søgård Larsen (Danish Army) Commander NATO Force Integration Unit in Lithuania (NFIU LTU)

Colonel Jakob Søgård LarsenThe NFIU LTU is a permanent NATO Headquarters with 41 persons from 14 different nations (with the personnel staying between 2-4 years). It was established on the 1st of September 2015 and its main task is to facilitate the rapid deployment of the Very High Readiness Joint Task Force and additional high readiness military forces in order to assure our NATO partners and enhance NATO responsiveness in the possibility of a crisis. The Headquarter is located permanently in Vilnius/Lithuania and is co-located with the Joint Headquarters of the Lithuanian Armed Forces.

Colonel Jakob Søgård Larsen has been deployed 6 times to different missions (Bosnia, Kosovo and Afghanistan) and this NATO appointment is his third appointment in the NATO structure.

As an active soldier for more than 30 years – with many leadership challenges in his military career – working at different levels with multinational organizations for many years, he understands the strengths and challenges of leading a multinational organization.


Major Joanna Martin (Royal Canadian Air Force), Engineer Section Head, NATO Force Integration Unit Lithuania

Major Joanna MartinMajor Joanna Martin is a Construction Engineer and has served in the RCAF for over 16 years.  She deployed with NATO to HQ ISAF in Kabul, Afghanistan in 2010, working with infrastructure projects and contracts. Maj Martin was managing the Royal Canadian Air Force infrastructure along with several large contracts for a number of years. She moved to Vilnius, Lithuania in 2016 for a 3 year posting with the NATO Force Integration Unit.

The parking of the Lithuania Armed Force Mess is located in the back of the building and its entrance is reachable though Vasario 16-osios g. And will be exceptionally open to public for the guest of EBN.
There is also Public Parking available at the foot of Tauro Kalnas, just 50m from the Lithuanian Armed Forces Officer Mess.
